Here is a glimpse into why she paints
“The Vision”
My main purpose of painting is to elevate the heart. The world of abundant nature is the fuel of my inspiration. On my journeys I may experience places, colours, feelings and light. I will sketch and paint in situ. Yet often it is upon my return to the studio that the true painting begins to form from memories of the experience. Aspects of the landscape are distilled from reality, transformed with the use of imaginary colour. I discover colours within myself then find a way to reproduce the effect onto canvas.

Colour has great spiritual depth. Each colour combination creates a resonance, visual music, a non-verbal communication written in the language of paint. It is these messages, of essence of place, which I attempt to convey, where the viewer enters a place found between dream and reality. This is the world of the interior experienced as expressions of the soul.

As my painting journey takes me to the essence of place where I explore the concept of flat-depth, I enjoy the excitement and vitality found in the application of the paint. I find my “paintbox” is ever expanding with acrylics, pearlescents, iridescent, metallic, foils and glitters. I have introduced the use of crystals and semi-precious stones. This allows my paintings to take on a decorative jewelled quality. Here I attempt to create a vision, one of tranquillity, renewal and harmony.
